Exploring Maps

We are learning about all kinds of maps!  Kids enjoyed exploring maps in our room and in Mrs. Schroeder’s room last week!  We will be continuing our work with maps this week.

Champion Chipmunks Love to Read (and get comfortable)!

Independent reading time is one of the best parts of the day!  Kids choose a just-right book, find a comfy spot and enjoy a good book!  I am amazed at how long they can read so early in the year…we are up to 40 minutes already!

Great Day at Bayside Park

Cioffi’s Champion Chipmunks had a wonderful morning at Bayside Park.  We celebrated a week of Harmony team building with all of the other 3rd grade classes in our house.  Kids enjoyed the playground, fields, courts, Gaga pit and the pavillion.  The weather was perfect and the kids could not have been better behaved.  We are all so proud of our third graders and are looking forward to a fantastic year together!

Colchester Community Wax Museum 2018

The Wax Museum was a huge success!  Thanks to everyone for all the support in making this happen.  Colchester is a wonderful place and we are happy that we could highlight some of the people and businesses that make it such a special place to live, learn and play!

No Bayside…..No Problem

Check out all the fun we had on the day we were supposed to go to Bayside!

MBS Field Day

Field Day was a blast!  Obstacle course, egg toss, water balloons, a slip and slide and SO much more!  Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers for making this possible.  Students, teachers and staff all had a wonderful time!

Planting Fun at MBS

The Chipmunks had fun starting some seedlings with Liam’s mom!  They grew so fast and the kids were excited to get them in the MBS garden!

Marshmallow Tower iSTEAM Challenge

Students used the information and observations from the Index Card Tower Challenge to create a plan for a new tower, using only toothpicks and marshmallows.  The goal was to build the highest tower that could stand on its own.  As you can see from the pictures, there was a lot of teamwork and collaboration going on!  I am very proud of all the creations and look forward to our future engineering challenges!
